Medical Massage Therapies

Procedure

Medical Massage Therapy consists of several modalities including Neuromuscular reeducation & therapy, myofascial release and others. The modalities are applied, by order of a physician, in units that are measured by time or body region. The physician would write a prescription that would be presented to your therapist prior to the first session.

Sessions

The sessions are determined individually based on the Doctor's order and your tolerance to the therapy. They are billed to your insurance carrier in units. Four units is the maximum number that any one can have in one day from all providers.

Insurance Payments

These therapies are covered by most PPO policies, and a few HMO policies. They are covered by all automobile policies. Those carriers that do not cover massage therapy usually establish reduced prices for their policy holders with certain therapists. We participate in many plans and will apply those discounts to all patients whose insurance does not cover these services. To check with your insurance company, call the customer service number on your card and ask if they allow payments for treatment codes 97112, 97124 or 97140. Or we will check for you if you like.
